Information from "Norbert Gahbler" 13.12.2001 Hi John good news from Germany I have just heard a report an the WDR (West-German-Radio, Colgne), stating that a secretary of Wolfgang Clemens, Prime Minister of Northrhine Westfalia (NRW), has seen people at the World Bank in New York about the Equador pipeline project. He was inofficially informed, that there has been no ecological evaluation by the world bank on this project and that the World Bank does not see, that their ecological standards are met by the project. This information has upset a lot of peolpe in the NRW government and Clement now asks WestLB to give explanation how that could happen and what consequences will be taken. The journalist finished of with the statement: According to their own proclamations, that they will only support projects according to the world bank eco-standards the only thing WestLB can do, is drop their plans. I hope this is good news. with Love Norbert
